Friends - Our Angels
Friends are our Angels in Life
They help us through anything
---Nanci Johnson
I came across this thought filed away on my computer and just had to repost it. Ms. Johnson is so right. Good friends are angels to stand by us no matter what. They support us when we feel inadequate. They listen when we need to talk. They offer love when we feel that we are unloved. They encourage us to be the best we can be.
I have a couple of good friends who have been by my side through thick and thin. One of them is also my sister and I feel so blessed to have had her in my life. She is always so supportive of everything I want to do and doesn’t hesitate to encourage me or even discourage me if she feels I need to be sure I know what I’m getting myself into.
I have several other friends who are not related, but to me they are an intregal part of my life and I don't know what I'd ever do without them. They have listened and understood me, stood by me, and given of their time and energy to make sure I had what I needed to go on every day even when I’ve been blue. We’ve shared so much over the past years and every day I thank my Lord for them.
I try to include good friends in each of my stories. My life has been enriched by good friends, and I think my stories are better when I have my hero and heroine enjoy good friends too.
I urge you to remember your good friends. Enjoy every aspect of spending time with your friends. Remember -- you have to be a good friend back!

Don't You Just Love It!
Had to share the following. A friend send this to me, and it made me chuckle. Hope it makes you smile, too.
Wish I could take credit for writing the story, but I didn't. Thank you to whoever wrote it.
One morning, the husband returns the boat to their lakeside
Cottage after several hours of fishing and decides to take a nap.
Although not familiar with the lake, the wife decides to take the boat out. She motors out a short distance, anchors, puts her feet up, and begins to read her book. The peace and solitude are magnificent.
Along comes a Fish and Game Warden in his boat.

Although not familiar with the lake, the wife decides to take the boat out. She motors out a short distance, anchors, puts her feet up, and begins to read her book. The peace and solitude are magnificent.
Along comes a Fish and Game Warden in his boat.
He pulls up alongside the woman and says, 'Good morning, Ma'am. What are you doing?'
'Reading a book,' she replies, (thinking, 'Isn't that obvious?')
'You're in a Restricted Fishing Area,' he informs her.
'I'm sorry, officer, but I'm not fishing. I'm reading.'
'Yes, but I see you have all the equipment. For all I know you could start at any moment. I'll have to take you in and write you up.'
'If you do that, I'll have to charge you with sexual assault,' says the woman.
'But I haven't even touched you,' says the Game Warden.
'That's true, but you have all the equipment.. For all I know you could start at any moment.'
'Have a nice day ma'am,' and he left.
MORAL:
Never argue with a woman who reads.
It's likely she can also think.
Have a great day!

The Long and The Short of It Reviews said: Engaging Read, Engrossing!

"Murder and Lies" opens with the shock of a friend's death - but it
is far more than a simple murder-mystery. Maggie Benson is an appealing main character
from the start. She helps people, and is simply heartbroken at her young friend
and employee's death. Her motivation, in the beginning, is obvious.
Wilson Beaumont has a whole different problem: money. And not just lack of money - it's lack of a whole lot of money, and there's a good deal of trouble headed his way because of it. Of course, it's the dead girl who has the information he needs... a dead girl who is more to him than he wants known at first. The town of Twin Rivers hardly seems the sort to have this drama land in its midst. It really has such charming aspects - and the author describes things beautifully. The flickering light of campfires for example, or the day-to-day operations in the diner all work to set the mood. This is a town of kindly folks too, like like Sherriff Anderson and Lindsay. However, the distant specter of a menacing bank owner looms over all for contrast; there are the ruthless, as well. At first, we feel a bit angry that Wilson brings all this to the quiet town - right to Maggie's little diner, in fact. However, it isn't long before we suspect that it was Vienna who first brought the trouble. Who to trust will become central to uncovering what really happened. Each new revelation throughout throws even more intrigue into the mix. Although Maggie becomes more and more attached to Wilson, she also discovers (or thinks she discovers) more and more about him. And it is not all good. The interplay between the two is engaging and utterly believable - conversations both reveal and raise our suspicions. We readers know how we want things to go, but increasingly, we wonder if these people are who we think they are. This is not at all a mystery overlaid with a romance; each piece is integral to the plot. A matter of trust; a matter of the heart. "Murder and Lies" does deliver on the suspenseful mystery, but doubly so on the feelings of the heart. This is an absolutely gripping romance. A must read, for sure.

I HAVE NEWS!
Thanks to everyone who came by and either bought one of my books or said hello on Saturday at my booksigning with Barnes and Noble. We had a great day. If you didn't come join us, you missed meeting lots of authors with wonderful books -- and we shared lots of chocolate. Barnes and Noble were fantastic and treated us like royalty. I so appreiate the opportunity to talk to so many readers and enjoy the time with the other fantastic authors!
I got a contract from The Wild Rose Press for my short story, One Stormy Night. I wrote this story after my husband told me about a hunting trip that went bad in the west desert. I put my characters into a sticky situation that just got worse when they witness a murder and have to flee for their lives. In the story it's winter, they have two flat tires, and I can't tell you what happens. You'll just have to read it for yourself.
Oh, Happy Mother's Day!

Wise? Or Is It Just Old Age?
I never gave much thought about getting old. Oh, I remember thinking 25 was old -- oh how foolish - right? I remember hearing my mother's friend complain about being 45 and I thought I never want to get that old. Guess what? I am that old. In fact, I passed that number awhile back.
Isn't it funny though. I don't feel any older now than I did years ago. Oh, I have more aches and pains, but mentally, I feel the same. I still like alot of the same things. I still feel like I can do what I used to do. Too bad my body doesn't always agree.
I remember hearing people say you gain wisdom as you age. Well, I must have missed the boat because I don't feel any wiser. But when my granddaughter asks me questions, I can draw on experience to answer her. Sometimes I even find great answers. Whatever I say, she looks at me like I'm so smart so maybe wisdom is something you acquire and don't even realize it.
I have to admit, each day brings new experiences. These experiences are determined by the decisions I make. Perhaps that's how we gain wisdom -- learning from our past experiences, and at my age, I've had alot of past experience.
What do you think -- what has brought you wisdom?

Is It Really Spring?
The calendar says its spring. Usually Easter signifies it's spring. I know I'm ready for spring.
This was taken on Easter. Doesn't look like spring much to me, does it you?
My family took a ride to the mountains to see how close we could get to our cabin. We never get in until Mother's Day or later, so even though there's still snow on the ground, it was wonderful for us to get to our gate. This time of year we're always anxious to get on the mountain and to enjoy our cabin. We always look forward to seeing the animals and hummingbirds. So, even though there's still snow, it was a gorgeous spring day in the mountains (about 7500 feet in elevation).
We had a great ride and a very nice day and as you can see, my husband drove out of the canyon with a smile on his face.
I need to tell you, that a few miles down the road the snow was totally melted and we were able to see deer grazing on the hillside and some fish jumping in the creek that runs alongside the road.
Don't you just love spring flowers? My neice posted these on her facebook page and I just had to share them.
Once we drove out of the snow and got back to our house, my daffodils were starting to bloom, the hyacinths were starting to grow, and they are definitely a sign telling me spring is here. I love it!
We, in the west, are lucky because we have different seasons, and they each offer us so much. Spring is the beginning of life as calves are born, colts arrive, flowers spring up with their beautiful colors, and the rains help everything turn green and lush after the long cold, snowy days of winter. I guess it's alot like life. Each of our seasons bring us something to look forward to, and so does the various seasons.
Take time to look around you and enjoy this marvelous time of year. Push the dark moods away and embrace the new bright days. Let them inspire you to create something new, reach out to another person, finish something you started, or just get out and find something to smile about.
Me, I'm working on another story. I'm getting really close to submitting it to my publishers. While you are waiting for it to be released, check out some of my other stories. I'm sure you'll find something you enjoy. My website will give you all the info. http://KRBailey.com
